Opened by Kim & Reinaldo, a husband-and-wife team, The Misunderstood Heron has been serving bold, flavour-driven dishes rooted in seasonal, locally sourced produce since 2017, alongside specialty Irish-roasted coffee and homemade cakes with a menu rooted in the best of Irish seafood, seasonal meat, and vegetarian dishes.
Now open for the 2026 season in our new home at Campbell’s Pub in Murrisk, just outside Westport we continue to focus on creative, ever-changing menus that celebrate the best of the west coast.
Set at the foot of Croagh Patrick, with seating in the garden, hay barn, and inside the pub, we’re still surrounded by the wild beauty of Mayo’s mountains and coastline — just with a few more ways to settle in and stay awhile.
